Lumsing 10400mAh Harmonica Style Power Bank Review

The Lumsing Power Bank LUM-008-001 is described by the manufacturer as a “harmonica” style power bank. It has a respectable 10400mAh capacity and two USB output ports rated at 1A and 2.1A.

The “harmonica” style refers to the slender shape compared other devices that tend to be wider and squarer. The power button, two USB output ports and the four blue lights are all placed on the front edge. The microUSB port is positioned on the side.

As is common with power banks four LEDs indicate the current charge level. Each LED represents a 25% increment. The blue lights illuminate when the device is being charged and the device has reached full capacity when all four are lit.

The case is made from white plastic with a gloss finish. The top edge has a section of plastic that resembles brushed metal and this carries the Lumsing logo. The front and side edges are a grey plastic with a slight metallic sheen. The rear edge is curved whereas the front edge is flat to accommodate the USB ports, LEDs and power switch which is silver plastic. The rear face includes a printed set of specifications as well as CE, FC and RoHS markings.

The package doesn’t include a mains charger but can use any 5V microUSB power supply. I used a mixture of phone and tablet chargers without any issues. If your charger can provide 1.5A it will take 7 hours to charge.

When not in use you can press the power button and the blue lights will illuminate to indicate the remaining charge. Each light represents 25% and the first light will flash if there is less than 10% remaining.

After handling this unit I would describe the overall build to be of good quality. The brushed metal effect looks good and gives it a premium feel. The included soft pouch will help keep it looking good if it carried around in bags and rucksacks.
